My name is Dottie. I live in North Carolina. My son Matthew was shot and killed in April of 2003. I am recently divorced. My husband wasn't Matt's father, but things didn't work with us when Matt died. Then my oldest son got his girlfriend pregnant, and he just booked. I live on retirement disability. I worked as a Set up Technician/Lead Person at a factory in town for almost 15 years, when I got injured and had to leave.
What helps me through the holidays is knowing that I now have a grandson to carry on Matt's name for him. I know he is my guardian Angel, watching over me. I planted a memorial garden in front of my house, and the roses just seem to keep blooming all year around. It helps a lot to have his garden to work in and watch grow.
My sister was also killed by her boyfriend in 1985 at the tender age of 15. Sometimes I think I will never make it, then I go out to the garden and start working, it seems to help some. Well, I think that is enough about me.
you may share this story as well. I know it is filled with more sadness, but that is all I seem to have any more. Thank you for being here. Having some one to talk to is a real help some times.
Dottie Hagan.
