You asked to write a little about ourselves. So, here goes:
I am divorced and live alone in a studio apartment. I've worked for the Association of REALTORS since Aug of 1991. I have a 26-year-old son, Brian, who is mentally disabled. He is a challange at times because he will not take medication to help him with his disability. Currently, he is homeless. The good news is that just today, I was approved to be his representative payee for disability benefits!
I have one grandchild, a precious 9-year-old girl, Trinity. She now lives with her Dad in Southern California. Before my daughter, Suzanne, passed away, Trinity lived with her. It's been quite an adjustment for her, but she is doing very well. She's doing very well in school and was elected the "rep" for her class. She is a joy to me and has all of her mother's strong points...love and a giving heart are the top two.
I've got three brothers who have helped me through these last few months. I also have a wonderful former sister-in-law who is a God-send. She lost her son, Steven, 5 years ago on December 16. Kris has supported me with her understanding, love and support.
The holidays are something I am not looking forward to. But, Suzanne loved Christmas even more than I do, so I am encouraged to decorate and celebrate as she would want me too. Her birthday is on December 10, she would have been 30-years-old. That's a tough one to face, yet I know with the support of family & friends, I will make it through. I'll bake a cake and put balloons at "Suz's Spot" at the cemetery.
I live in California, but am a Pittsburgh, PA native. Therefore, a Steelers fan, as my daughter was!
